In it, the authors describe a fall campaign with Colorado Buffaloes, their training and racing intervals, and events briefly and coherently. The account also includes physical and psychological difficulties encountered by the athletes and Coach Wetmore as well, since these are important aspects of some of their stories. I must say that being a female runner, I found myself rather disappointed with how little was provided from the women’s perspective on the team. I found the book Women’s and Team Track very short and regret the absence of personal accounts from these athletes who seem to be made out of iron taking on Wetmore’s grueling exercises! In the meantime, I hope the forthcoming Western Nordic Long Distance Championships will pay more attention to women, ge Pontifex. Nevertheless, I have to go back and say how much I enjoyed reading about the men’s team. Thank you and see you in the next competition.

Having been a distance runner for a long period, I would recommend any endurance athlete to go to this book and not just Usain Bolt. The focus is on true communication concerning the efforts and self-discipline, which all athletes have to demonstrate to get the desired results. The world needs such geniuses equipped with such knowledge; there are many useful quotes and facts in this book and the man is kind enough to give them all in one piece. The impression of the last moment of action though fell a little flat, there was still a sense of uncertainty and anticlimactic in the resolution.

This book was recommended to me when I was contemplating training for my first marathon. After consuming the pages of this book, I not only vow to participate in that marathon, my first, but my whole outlook on life has been restructured as well. If you are an athlete or simply want to achieve health-related goals, Sweeney’s book has a lot to offer in terms of reframing distasteful concepts such as burning out, training for the sake of training, or some boredom, or loss of motivation. I could go on and on – it’s a great book. It is worthwhile reading, I recommend it!

I got this book for my tenth-grade niece, a cross-country runner, who has been unable to start this book. Being quite intrigued by the base plot, I decided to read it myself. I didn’t particularly expect a lot of attention to the book, however, it turned out to be an excellent read. It was very exciting. How the book is composed and followed is honestly easy on the eyes and ears as I hardly noticed the time till early morning while I turned the pages. I had read about Deena in Born to Run and knew that she was a fantastic runner but didn’t know more about her. Wow, what a life story, she is quite amazing and gives great advice on how to stay positive and how to go for your goals.

It is a gift for Garton in particular how she brings her essays to book life. She combines drama, suspense, and human interest while teaching the audience about the book. This book deals with several subjects but for me, it was just about the Army World Class Athlete Program (WCAP). Garton explains the WCAP, making it feel alive and active as well while being narrated by the participants.

I have to mention the parts where Elvin and Shadrack go from Kenya to the USA, where they become Division 1 college students who are also athletes. The dream of being able to learn, to take part in competitions, and to have a student visa for four years is unreal, but then what do you do if you want to remain? In the course of their career, they joined the Army and still trained and competed in their sport while serving their new nation to get citizenship in the end. It is a path less traveled that is also uplifting and filled with very enlightening moments of truth.

This book will also have several warm cozy episodes as well as heart-piercing ones which will give you the values of hard work, the joy of competition and love, and the determination of the human race. An absolute pleasure to read.
